Gary James McQueen, the nephew of the late great Alexander McQueen is carrying on the family legacy and unveiling a limited edition collection of Grand Lenticular art works to pay homage to his uncle.
The Lenticular pieces are all iconic pieces synonymous with Alexander McQueen.Gary began his career as head textile designer for Alexander McQueen.
So amongst being a textile designer at Alexander McQueen, Gary also was requested personally by Lee to create numerous digital portraits one of which was the “Savage Beauty” portrait.
This image went on to become the illustrious face of the sell-out “Savage Beauty” exhibition (Met New York & V&A London) and the front cover of the book.
Gary said "It was an honour to create something which became world renowned and it made it even more poignant as a tribute to him”
The other prints include Flayed Angel which was influenced by a reference image that Lee turned to for inspiration time and again and is inspired by the Victorian anatomical illustrations of Jacques-Fabien Gautier.
And the Vanitas Skull, which was theprominent image used for the cover of the “McQueen” documentary.
The exclusive series of 3 Lenticular art works are limited to 20 and stand a whooping 5 ft tall as you walk around them you get a 360 experience, or 3D feeling without needing to wear the glasses.
The Lenticulars are accompanied by a series of prints which capture the Lenticulars in transition.
These are limited to 50 and still capture the prestige of the Lenticulars but with a more affordable price tag (price
£10,000)
Gary been the digital pioneer that he is, decided he wanted to give people another way to view his artwork and he collaborated with an Moyosa Media,
so that people could get the Lenticular experience using Augmented Reality which is a technology that pairs similar to the experience of looking at a Lenticular print.
The AR appears by clicking on a link and projecting the AR in front of you using your cell phone.
Making it easy for potential buyers to view the art works in detail from the comfort of their home.
