Poetic Strokes is set to host the much anticipated film screening and panel discussion of “Salam” on Wednesday 30th of October at the Novo Cinema’s in Ibn Batutta Mall, Dubai.
Salam is a feature length documentary about Pakistan’s great forgotten genius: Nobel Prize winning physicist, Abdus Salam. Directed by Anand Kamalakar and produced by Zakir Thaver and Omar Vandal.
Salam reveals the extraordinary life and charismatic personality of Abdus Salam. Born in 1926 in a remote village in Punjab where he grew up in a humble, small brick house, Salam was a child prodigy who through sheer perseverance and intelligence, rapidly rose to prominence against all the odds.
In 1979, Salam’s ground-breaking contribution to the field of theoretical physics was recognized when he became the first Muslim scientist to win the prestigious Nobel Prize.
The audiences will also have the opportunity to engage in the Panel discussions which includes Zakir Thaver who is the co-producer of “Salam” and the celebrated Pakistani actress Sania Saeed, with three decades of theatre and television in Pakistan. She, along with Zakir will be speaking about the role of parallel cinema in Pakistani film industry.
